On Thursday 26 September, BCA President, Tim Button, attended Treforest Campus at the Welsh Institute of Chiropractic (WIOC) (University of South Wales), to witness a momentous for the chiropractic profession event – the ‘Topping out’ ceremony of the institution’s fabulous new Student Chiropractic Clinic. The project will replace the current facilities at the William Price Business Park, bringing together all learning, teaching and treatments onto the same site for the first time since the Master of Chiropractic (MChiro) degree course started in 1997. Designed by a team of architects from Cardiff-based Stride Treglown, the 900 sqm, two-storey building will include treatment rooms, DXA (bone density) and ultrasound scan rooms, a seminar room and support spaces for students and colleagues, among many more facilities. The clinic is expected to open its doors in April 2025.
Tim said, “It was a privilege to witness the latest milestone at the Welsh Institute of Chiropractic (WIOC), during the ‘Topping out’ ceremony of their fabulous new facility. To achieve success like this is a testament to all the dedication and commitment of the staff team. Professor David Byfield has been a driving force within the institution for many years and it was a pleasure to share the experience with him“.
Commenting on this important ceremony, Professor David Byfield said, “The topping out event was very exciting to mark the half point in the new clinic build and it was a pleasure to host Tim Button DC from the BCA and hear the very supportive words from Mark Milton, USW Chief Operating Officer, praising the chiropractic program and our contribution to our community“.
