Meet the BCA Excellence Award Winner – Chiropractor of the Year

Introducing Philippa Oakley, winner of the BCA Excellence Award for Chiropractor of the Year. The BCA Board awarded Philippa in recognition of the outstanding contribution she has made in the promotion and understanding of Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) in the chiropractic profession and for inspiring all of us to learn and develop our skills in this area.

Philippa also works extensively with healthcare organisations, NHS trusts and integrated care systems, providing training education and support to refine and develop their EDI strategies and patient-centered communication.

Philippa has shown a particular interest in effective communication for LGBTQ+ patients and the impact this has on their outcomes of care. As well as providing multiple well attended CPD sessions for the BCA family this year, Philippa has also been making an appearance on renowned chiropractic social media accounts as they share their passion for enhance EDI across the global profession, as far as Canada and South Africa.

Here is what Philippa had to say about receiving the award:

“I am incredibly humbled to have been awarded the Chiropractor of the Year award for 2022. It is an honour to be a part of this trophy’s list of names. This award recognises the importance of the work I do for the chiropractic profession in promoting understanding of EDI and showcasing how we can work together with other healthcare organisations, NHS trusts and integrated care systems.  I am proud to represent the BCA as the home of chiropractors who put patients first.”
