The British Chiropractic Association hosted its annual BCA Excellence Awards in Birmingham on Saturday 18 November, announcing the winners from three categories nominated for by BCA members and the Chiropractor of the Year award nominated by the BCA Board.
The BCA Excellence Awards are an opportunity to recognise the exceptional achievements of Chiropractors across the country, and to celebrate the BCA’s best-in-class members, demonstrating its person-centred approach.
Chiropractor’s Chiropractor – Faye Deane
Faye Deane took home the 2023 Chiropractor’s Chiropractor Award. Faye’s nomination for the award included her incredible support for the GCC EDI working group and continually championing chiropractic to become a more inclusive and diverse profession. Faye is always the first person to come forward with insight and initiatives to help improve the chiropractic profession, not only at an undergraduate level with our chiropractic degree programmes, but on an international stage, also with her work through FICS and the wider public health initiatives. In addition to her lecturing commitments, Faye is also the newly-appointed Co-chair of Education for FICS, and seems to find more time still for additional work, for example, she established a public health internship in Chile in 2013 which, after winning a Global Partnership Seed Corn grant this year, has now turned into an international collaboration between Teesside University, the Universidad del Desarrollo & Pontificia Universidad Catolica de Chile.
This award was kindly sponsored by Atlas Clinical. Congratulations Faye!

Sam’s nomination for the award included how Sam has continued to better himself as a chiropractor and improve his knowledge. Sam is also currently working within the FICS Student Commission and was pivotal in establishing their mentoring program, pairing young chiropractic students with experienced sports chiropractors around the world. Sam is currently finishing his ICSC qualification which has enhanced his skills, helping him treat a variety of patients to a high standard, following the best evidence-based practices. Sam has achieved all this whilst working 40 hours a week, helping many patients achieve their goals and getting excellent positive feedback. He treats a variety of patients and ensures his care is always bespoke to their needs and goals, which has helped him develop a good reputation and excellent patient base within 2 years.
Congratulations Sam!

Clinic of the Year – Attend2Health
The Clinic of the Year Award went to Attend2Health Clinic in Hertfordshire and was received by Clinic Owner Louise Hampton. Attend2Health is a multidisciplinary clinic that has been established since 2007. Over the years, the clinic has expanded and moved into larger premises to accommodate the growing number of professions. The clinic team is forever learning from their patients and improving their services, providing the best evidence-based care possible. Each year the clinic has a charity day to raise money for different causes. This year £261.37 was raised for the Chiropractic Research Council with a further event which took place in September. The clinic sponsors a number of local clubs to raise awareness in the area. Currently, they sponsor the Buntingford Cricket Club and Buntingford Bowls Club.
