History made as British Chiropractic Association celebrates 100th anniversary at the House of Lords

The BCA marked its 100th anniversary with a landmark celebration at the House of Lords, bringing together leaders, dignitaries, and international guests to honour a century of chiropractic progress.

London, 2 September 2025 – History was made as the House of Lords hosted the centenary celebration of the British Chiropractic Association (BCA).

The afternoon tea in the Cholmondeley Room and Terrace gathered Lords, Ladies, distinguished guests, and international dignitaries to mark 100 years of advancing chiropractic care in the UK.

The occasion was hosted by BCA Member, Lalit Sodha, who became the first practising chiropractor ever to host an event at the House of Lords. His leadership in organising the centenary was recognised as a proud moment for both the BCA and the wider chiropractic profession.

Among the notable guests were Lord Gadhia, Tim Button (President of the BCA), Nick Jones (Chief Executive of the General Chiropractic Council), and Jonathan McShane (Chair of the General Chiropractic Council), all acknowledged for their roles in advocating for the profession. Adding an international dimension to the day, spiritual leaders Pujya Shree Milan Kumar Goswami and Pallaviji Goswami travelled from India to join the celebrations.

This year also marks 130 years since the founding of chiropractic by Daniel David Palmer in 1895. Guests reflected on the growth of the profession from its pioneering beginnings to its role today as an established part of healthcare, supported by robust governance, professional recognition, and growing evidence of its benefits.

Lalit Sodha, reflecting on the significance of the event, said:

“This event is not just about looking back at 100 years of chiropractic progress. It is about honouring the present, celebrating our achievements, and looking forward with optimism.”

Tim Button, President of the BCA (suggested):

“The centenary of the BCA is a milestone for our members and the patients we serve. Hosting this celebration at the House of Lords reflects the recognition chiropractic has earned as part of UK healthcare.”

The celebration at the House of Lords marked not only the BCA’s proud 100-year journey, but also its commitment to shaping the future of chiropractic in the UK.

As the profession continues to grow, the BCA will remain dedicated to championing excellence, supporting its members, and ensuring patients benefit from timely, evidence-based care.
