Introduction
In every chiropractor’s career, there are patient stories that you’ll never forget.
It might be someone who came into your clinic worried that ongoing pain could force them out of a physically demanding job. Or a patient recovering from injury who started to avoid movement altogether, unsure what their body could handle. Sometimes the difference is felt in small but meaningful ways like, walking the dog again, getting back to the activities they enjoy, or lifting a grandchild for the first time in months.
These moments remind us why many of us chose to work in healthcare in the first place.
This year’s Chiropractic Awareness Week focuses on those memories. Our theme, ‘The patient I’ll never forget’, invites BCA members across the UK to reflect on the individuals whose journeys have stayed with them and shaped their professional lives.
We’re looking for authentic, human stories that demonstrate the difference BCA members make in their communities. The more stories we gather, the stronger the collective picture we can paint of the difference BCA chiropractors make every day. Your story could help show the public the real, human impact of chiropractic care.
You can access this toolkit in a PowerPoint format here - we encourage you to download the toolkit to be able to use it smoothly.
How you can get involved
Share your patient story
It is easy to share your story. We encourage you to record a video or a voice note and upload it to this folder.
For written patient stories, you can email katrin.mahfuz@chiropractic-uk.co.uk or save them in a Word document in the folder above.
Stories should be FULLY ANONYMOUS.
Video story example & tips
Top tips:
- Record in a vertical format
- Make sure your face can be seen clearly - position your camera at eye level and ensure the space is well lit.
- Avoid looking down at notes - speak naturally to the camera so your message feels more personal and engaging.
Check your background - make sure there is no personal or sensitive information visible behind you.
Note: you don't need to add captions or a frame to the video, just record it and upload it to this folder, and we'll take care of the rest!
Written story example and tips
The biggest factor is ensuring the story you share is fully anonymised and GDPR compliant. For inspiration, below are two case study examples.
Audio story example and tips
Top tips:
- Find a quiet place - avoid background noise so your recording is clear and easy to hear.
- Speak clearly and at a steady pace - this will help make your message easier to follow.
- Keep it focused - share the key message without long pauses or distractions.
Guidance on sharing patient stories ethically
Patient stories are a powerful way to showcase the real-life benefits of chiropractic care and the positive impact you, as BCA members, are having on your communities.
However, when sharing patient experiences publicly, whether on social media, practice websites or other platforms, it is essential that you follow the below advice:
- Anonymisation: It is considered good practice to remove all patient identifiable information, such as names, addresses, imagery or anything else that can make them easily identifiable in their community.
- Professional Boundaries: Patient storytelling must remain professional and sensitive to the patient’s healthcare experience.
- Be truthful: Share authentic experiences without exaggeration, and ensure stories reflect professional standards and realistic outcomes.
How your story will be used
All stories will be featured on our official CAW page. Selected stories will be shared across the BCA’s social media channels during CAW, helping us collectively tell the story of chiropractic and highlight the powerful work taking place in clinics across the UK.

Comment on our posts
We need your help to amplify Chiropractic Awareness Week and raise awareness of the positive impact BCA chiropractors have on their communities. Alongside sharing your own content, we encourage members to actively engage with BCA posts on the below channels:
- Facebook: @BritChiro
- Instagram: @chiropractic_uk
- LinkedIn: @British Chiropractic Association
While liking and sharing helps boost visibility, adding a meaningful comment is the most effective way to reach more people. You may want to share professional insight, reflect on what you see in practice or respond to the topic being discussed. Below are some examples:
- "This shows how important it is to look after our musculoskeletal health"
- “I often see patients whose daily activities are affected by issues like this. Awareness and early action make a real difference."
- "Supporting people to move better and feel better is at the heart of what we do."
- "Conversations like this are important for helping people better understand their musculoskeletal health."
- "So many people live with pain longer than they need to. Getting the right advice early can really help."
- "Helping patients return to the activities they love is always a rewarding part of our practice."
Tags and Collaborations
We’d love for you to tag us in your posts!
On Instagram, you can invite the BCA to be a post collaborator, which will allow us to share your content on our channels, amplifying the reach for both. To do this, simply create your post, tap ‘tag people’ on the final screen and before publishing, select ‘invite collaborator’, search for and select @chiropractic_uk, and then share your post as usual. The BCA will then receive a collaboration request*.
*While we may not be able to accept every collaboration request, we'll aim to join as many as possible throughout the week to help amplify members' posts.
