Prestigious Award for BCA Director

BCA’s Director of Communications & Marketing scoops prestigious award

The BCA’s Director of Communications & Marketing, Lisa King, has won the Association Executive of the Year 2021 award. The award is in recognition of her visionary leadership and innovative strategic organisational management contributions which have made a substantial impact on the improvement and development of the Association, for the benefit of its members.

Lisa secured the accolade against stiff competition in the UK division of the Awards which are issued by international organisation, the Association of Association Executives.

As the UK’s premier chiropractic professional association, the BCA has sought to attract staff who match the organisation’s ambition for the profession, which although small, carries out millions of patient treatments every year. In the 2.5 years since Lisa joined the BCA, her contribution has led to an increase in membership and financial resources through the innovative delivery of key services and new communications approaches, whilst also developing a new strategic direction for the profession. This was achieved against the backdrop of a global pandemic, which is exceptional.

The judges said: “(We were) impressed by the candidate’s commitment to delivering a best-in-class service and wrap-around support package for the membership community when most needed whilst at the same time, developing a long-term strategic vision that brings clarity, confidence and is ultimately, superbly communicated. A marvellous contribution at a hugely challenging time!”

BCA CEO, Tom Mullarkey MBE said, “In terms of impact, Lisa has completely upgraded the BCA’s Comms and Marketing profile in every area – publications, website, newsletters, PR, PA, events, training sessions and our annual conference.  She is a mighty force of energy and creativity and covers more ground than anyone else, in what is a high-performing team. Our members have certainly felt the hugely positive impact of Lisa’s work, which has provided reassurance in difficult times and aspiration for a more polished professional profile for the future.”

Lisa said; “I am incredibly proud of the work that myself and the whole BCA Team put in to our Association, creating a home for chiropractors who put their patients first. It is a great honour to have my contribution recognised in this way, particularly as I strive always to prioritise accessibility and inclusivity in my leadership – recognition that this approach is beneficial to a team is marvellous. I look forward to improving the BCA member experience further in 2022”.

The Association of Association Executives supports association executives to increase the value and effectiveness of membership, events, products and services, and the strength and influence of their organisation.
