BCA Clinic of the Year nominee 2022 – Kube Medical
This multidisciplinary team includes three BCA Chiropractors. Over the past year, the clinic has responded to community health needs in the post-pandemic era by expanding its offering to include a number of ancillary health and wellbeing services. To foster the future of the profession, Kube Medical has also hosted over ten young students to shadow or gain work experience at the clinic.
The main need has been the limited provision of free at source healthcare for sub-acute and chronic musculoskeletal conditions. The clinic has expanded treatment capacity and invested in advanced equipment to better meet patient needs. Supported by compelling research, shockwave therapy was introduced in December, followed by laser therapy in July. These are provided at costs that are significantly below those covered by insurers to ensure treatment is accessible.
Another trend is patient awareness of the importance of nutrition and vitamin levels. To meet this patient need, the clinic has started to offer health and intolerance tests, as well as vitamin C, D and B12 boosters, administered by a phlebotomist. The clinical and non-clinical teams have worked hard to understand the impact of vitamin deficiencies on patient health and wellbeing. This has also allowed the clinic to develop an extensive information section on its website for patients.
The clinic has continued to build on its reputation for working with paediatrics. Following the completion of her paediatric training, CocoMehendo Gyaba joined Clinical Lead, Samantha Campbell, in establishing a free fortnightly drop-in infant clinic. The clinic has also fostered close links with a local tongue-tie specialist. The paediatric offering will grow in the New Year, with the addition of a Physiotherapist with special interests in paediatrics and scoliosis.
Many patients visit solely to spend time with clinic dog Angie. Her calming demeanour with autistic patients, and friendly interaction with those needing company, led the team to formally register her with a therapy dog charity.
The clinic has run several other free or low-cost events to support patient and community needs, including breath workshops, paediatric first aid courses and gym-based drop in sessions.
Links have been built with athletes and sports clubs to provide sponsorship and easy access to treatment and information. These include rugby and netball clubs, a pro weightlifter, a youth motocross rider competing at a national level, and a GB age-group triathlete.
At a corporate level, Kube Medical has worked with local business fora to share business knowledge and improve understanding of the services it offers. These include the Thames Valley Chamber of Commerce, the Federation of Small Business and the Swindon and Wiltshire Local Enterprise Partnership.
The clinic continues to live by its mission to improve the health and happiness of the lives it touches. Having added over 20 blogs, information pages and news articles to the website this year, the latest team hire has been a digital marketing apprentice to further improve the website and social media channels which act as the external face of the business.
