Meet the CPD committee
The CPD Committee advises on the Association’s programme of CPD events, including those which will enable our members to gain CPD regulatory hours from the BCA at no or reduced cost. They ensure that the content we deliver in BCA Sessions is relevant and meets the needs of our members. BCA Sessions will include CPD qualifying content as well as subjects of business or personal interest.
Philippa Oakley – Chair
Philippa Oakley (she/her) graduated from The Welsh Institute of Chiropractic (WIOC) (University of South Wales) in 2012 and has over a decade’s experience in private practice. In addition to running her own clinic in Wiltshire, she is also the co-director of Oakley Partnership, a coaching and consultancy business specialising in LGBTQ+ inclusive healthcare. As a certified Coach and Mentor, Philippa has worked with the NHS, the General Chiropractic Council (GCC), educational institutions and healthcare membership organisations around the world to provide practitioners with the knowledge and skills to deliver culturally competent care to LGBTQ+ individuals. Most recently, Philippa was the recipient of the British Chiropractic Association’s prestigious “Chiropractor of the Year” award for 2022-2023, given in recognition of her work enhancing Equality, Diversity and Inclusion in the chiropractic profession.
Matthew Clifton-Hadley – Vice Chair
I run my own clinic in Surbiton, South West London so I know the stresses and strains of being a chiropractor and a business owner, it can be overwhelming at times but knowing the BCA has my back is a great comfort. I am a keen golfer in my spare time but I also have two young children so spare time is not a commodity I know much about. I am excited about driving the BCA forwards and turning it into the world-class association that our members deserve.
Kathryn Deverson – Committee Member
Kathryn graduated from the Welsh Institute of Chiropractic, University of South Wales in 2019. She set up her clinic, Proactive Chiropractic, located in Cardiff in 2023. Alongside this, she is Head of Medical for Pontypridd and completing her International Certificate in Sports Chiropractic (ICSC) with FICS. She is passionate about the importance of integrating chiropractic care with exercise to be most beneficial to her patients. Kathryn has a particular interest in the role social media plays in the public awareness of chiropractic, as well as their access to chiropractic and rehab ideas. She has used her Instagram as a platform to encourage patients and followers to get moving. Kathryn is excited to be able to contribute to the CPD and Conference Committee, bringing the perspective of a more recent graduate.
Robert Beaven – Committee Member
Rob is a graduate of AECC University College and runs a multidisciplinary team at his clinic in Cirencester. He is also the host of the Back Pain and Injury Podcast, a patient education platform started to help provide evidence-based information to the public about a range of MSK injuries. He has recently returned to the AECC where he is a clinic tutor two days per week.
